International Secretariat: NO TO THE U.S. ATTACK ON CUBA!!!
The December 12th Movement unconditionally condemns the latest steps taken by the Trump administration to interfere in the internal affairs of the sovereign state of Cuba. On January 29th, President Trump issued an Executive Order aimed at ramping up the destabilizing effects of its nearly six decades long campaign to overthrow the socialist government of Cuba.
In the very same way that the U.S. government has fabricated “in your face” lies to justify the recent ICE executions of U.S. citizens Keith Porter, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, it has now declared that Cuba constitutes an “unusual and extraordinary threat” to U.S. national security. The U.S. is using this lie as a rationale to completely block the flow of oil to Cuba to strangle its economy and create suffering and, hopefully, sow chaos among its people.
The real “threat” that Cuba poses to the U.S. is the example it has set by its very existence – free medical care, free education through university, subsidized affordable housing.
Internationally Cuba provides medical care to developing countries and offers a tuition-free medical education to students from around the world (including the U.S.) who commit to return to their country and serve in their communities.
When the racist, U.S.-supported apartheid regime still ruled South Africa, Cuba sent troops to fight with the African national liberation forces and contributed decisively to themilitary defeat of the white Afrikaaners. After Hurricane Katrina, when Black people in New Orleans were devastated, dying and neglected by the federal and state governments, Cuba offered to send doctors and medical care.
The U.S. rejected the offer of aid. Cuba is not a threat to Black people or poor and working class people in the U.S. The threat we face is from the very government which is trying to bring Cuba down internationally while it imposes a police state in this country due to its inability to resolve the economic problems of a dying capitalism.
In this Centennial of the birth of Comandante Fidel Castro, we stand with the countries and peoples around the world opposed to U.S. imperialism and to this illegal escalation of the U.S. attack on Cuba.
Freedom or Death!
We Will Win!
